EXPERIENCED: 5 days - 3 delegates maximum
Course Overview
With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer and general knowledge and awareness of an Excavator 360 and participate in physical activities to recognise machine components and functions, best practices and operating methods.
The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations.Â
Our occupationally and technically experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical assessment and short written theory test. They must pass the assessment to qualify for:
- NPORS/CSCS Construction Plant Operator Card, valid for two years. Or;
- Traditional Operators card, valid for three to five years depending on sector-specific or in-company requirements Â

Course Overview
The NPORS Excavator 360 below 10 tonnes course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a 360-degree excavator safely and legally. The course includes theory and practical demonstrations and prepares students for the NPORS Theory and Practical test.
 The course covers a range of topics, including:
- Safety:Â How to work safely in the industry, and how to identify and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Machine operation:Â How to operate the machine safely, including pre-operational checks, starting and stopping the engine, and moving the machine
- Machine components:Â How to identify and explain the functions of the machine's major components, steering, driving, and braking controls
- Excavation:Â How to excavate in different scenarios, and how to load material onto vehicles or into containers
- Groundwork:Â How to reinstate excavation, grade, and level ground
- Attachments:Â How to fit and remove attachments
- End of shift:Â How to carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
The course can be suitable for both beginners and experienced operators.

Course Duration

Course Overview
To teach the delegate how to safely and correctly Sling and Signal in accordance with LOLER 1998 and BS 7121. To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- To have a basic understanding of the relevant regulations including LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and BS 7121
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a Slinger / Signaller
- Be able to conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation
- Be able to locate, identify and explain different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories.
- Explain their basic construction, uses, applications and their functions
- Be able to interpret and extract information on all relevant documentation
- Undertake all pre-use checks on non-specialist lifting accessories and identify non-serviceable items
- Explain procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service
- Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads
- Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions, identifying any overhead hazards
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Slinger / Signaller use
- Secure various types of loads to a hook using the relevant lifting accessories and procedures ensuring load balance, security and integrity
- Direct and guide the movement of loads to different types of location using different methods of communication

By the end of this NPORS telescopic handler training course, you will have a solid understanding of:
- Current legislation related to the industry
- Common hazards associated with heavy plant machinery
- Health and safety best practice
- Your role and responsibilities as a telehandler forklift truck operator
- The manufacturer’s handbook for the specific machine you’ll be operating

Prerequisites
Traditional NPORS card
- Novice – No pre-requisites
- Experienced Workers - either 18 months of provable work experience or 6 months of consistent daily experience in the category.
NPORS / CSCS Card
In addition to the above, delegates must have an in-date relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touchscreen Test. Failure to attend with this qualification may result in you being denied entry to the course and forfeiture of all fees.
Candidates must have good understanding of spoken and written English.

Course Overview
The NPORS Telescopic Handler Suspended Loads (N138) certification is a training program that teaches plant operators how to safely use a telescopic handler to move suspended loads. The course is designed for operators who already have a telescopic handler qualification.
The course covers a range of topics, including:

- Lifting capacity:Â Understand lifting capacity charts and safe working loads
- Load movement:Â Learn how to control and manipulate loads with precision

Course Overview
To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator
- Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used and other relevant sources of information
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and braking controls and explain their functions
- Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements
- Safely mount and dismount the machine
- Start and stop the engine and safely move the machine off and stop it safely
- Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely laden and unladen, over varying terrain, rough ground, inclines, in open and confined areas
- Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
- Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out lifting and load handling tasks
- Carry out lifting and load handling tasks
- Lift and transfer loads accurately and safely at different locations
- Load and unload external transport safely
- Fit, adjust and or remove attachments
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of loading and unloading procedures for machine transportation
- Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures
