Course Duration

NOVICE: 6-9 days - 2 delegates maximum

EXPERIENCED: 5 days - 3 delegates maximum

Course Overview

With a mix of practical and theory-based exercises and tutorials, delegates will cover manufacturer and general knowledge and awareness of an Excavator 360 and participate in physical activities to recognise machine components and functions, best practices and operating methods.

The course reflects national standards and industry best practices and is fully accredited in line with regulations.

Our occupationally and technically experienced trainers coach delegates on this course, completing the session with a practical assessment and short written theory test. They must pass the assessment to qualify for:

NPORS/CSCS Construction Plant Operator Card, valid for two years. Or;

Traditional Operators card, valid for three to five years depending on sector-specific or in-company requirements

Prerequisites

Traditional NPORS card

Novice – No pre-requisites.
Experienced Workers - either 18 months of provable work experience or 6 months of consistent daily experience in the category.

NPORS / CSCS Card

In addition to the above, delegates must have an in-date relevant CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touchscreen Test. Failure to attend with this qualification may result in you being denied entry to the course and forfeiture of all fees.

Candidates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

Traditional NPORS Card – This card is valid for 5 years.

After the 5-year period, delegates will be expected to complete another test in the associated plant.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates applying for NPORS/CSCS Card will be awarded a NPORS Red Trained Operators Card valid for 2 years. During this time delegates will be required to register for a relevant NVQ. Upon successfully completing the NVQ, delegates will be awarded a Competent Operators Card (Blue) the card is valid for 5 years, however the qualification lasts a life time.

Course Overview

The NPORS Excavator 360 below 10 tonnes course teaches the skills and knowledge needed to operate a 360-degree excavator safely and legally. The course includes theory and practical demonstrations and prepares students for the NPORS Theory and Practical test.

The course covers a range of topics, including:

Safety: How to work safely in the industry, and how to identify and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
Machine operation: How to operate the machine safely, including pre-operational checks, starting and stopping the engine, and moving the machine
Machine components: How to identify and explain the functions of the machine's major components, steering, driving, and braking controls
Excavation: How to excavate in different scenarios, and how to load material onto vehicles or into containers
Groundwork: How to reinstate excavation, grade, and level ground
Attachments: How to fit and remove attachments
End of shift: How to carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures

The course can be suitable for both beginners and experienced operators.

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide foundation training in the safe operation and maintenance of a Forward Tipping Dumper.

The course is delivered through a combination of classroom-based theory and practical hands-on training.

Machine operation: How to operate the machine, including how to travel and manoeuvre it

Course Overview

The purpose and scope of this standard is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to support the following:

Role and responsibilities of the plant and vehicle marshaller.
Legal obligations relating to the managing vehicle movement on site.
Ensuring effective pedestrian segregation.
The use of recognised hand signals and other methods of communication.
Planning and controlling for safety of vehicle movement.

Course Overview

To teach the delegate how to safely and correctly Sling and Signal in accordance with LOLER 1998 and BS 7121. To provide knowledge and understanding in the following areas:

To have a basic understanding of the relevant regulations including LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and BS 7121
Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a Slinger / Signaller
Be able to conform to manufacturers requirements as per technical data, conform to relevant regulations and legislation
Be able to locate, identify and explain different types of lifting equipment and lifting accessories.
Explain their basic construction, uses, applications and their functions
Be able to interpret and extract information on all relevant documentation
Undertake all pre-use checks on non-specialist lifting accessories and identify non-serviceable items
Explain procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service
Identify and explain centres of gravity and calculate estimated weights of loads
Set up exclusion zone explaining actions required for emergency actions, identifying any overhead hazards
Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for Slinger / Signaller use
Secure various types of loads to a hook using the relevant lifting accessories and procedures ensuring load balance, security and integrity
